With rapid industry development, emissions of organic wastewater increasing, especially high density wastewater which severely pollutes water in the nature as it has high chroma, high toxicity and massive biological refractory compounds in the industries of chemistry, food industry, pesticide and pharmaceuticals industry. New technology of electrolysis method has advantages of no necessity of chemical agent, small-sized equipment, less occupied area and no secondary pollution, this technology has been widely applied for organic wastewater contains hydrocarbons, alcohol, aldehyde, ether, phenol. Oxidizing reaction on the anode surface removes COD and directly decreases the organics on the anode surface, It is noteworthy that anode potential must be higher than organic decomposition potential, organic oxidizing reaction and oxygen evolution are two competing reactions undertake simultaneously.
We have designed and developed a kind of Iridium-Tantalum oxide coated anode with activated layers that made up of Stannum and Antimony oxide which prevent the electrolyte penetrating into the titanium substrate surface and prevent oxygen atoms or bivalent oxygen atoms spreading to the titanium substrate, thus generating of titanium dioxide is prevented and oxygen evolution overvoltage of the Iridium-Tantalum coating is highly increased. The Iridium-Tantalum coated anode has unique advantages which prevent organics oxidated to carbon dioxide and water on the anode surface in the organic wastewater treatment. For copper recovery from the micro etching liquid, the Iridium-Tantalum oxide coating prevent sthe original ecological oxygen atoms entering inside coating and thus destroying coating cohesion and prolongs the anode’s life span. Now we have applied patents for utility models for this kind of coating.
